They say the little ones are the flowers of life. Well, we can safely say that Mariam Nabatanzi from Uganda has her own botanical garden! At 39 years old, a woman is a mother… be careful, 38 little ones! The eldest son Mariam is 23 years old, the youngest is only 5 months old.
Mariam Nabatanzi is considered Uganda’s most prolific mother. The woman is only 39 years old, so it is possible that her family will be reconstituted. Now Mariam has 38 cubs, in total she gave birth to 44 cubs, but she lost six soon after giving birth.
Mariam Nabatantsi got married when she was only 13 years old. When the couple had a large number of young, her husband left Mariam, and now she is raising her 38 young on her own.
It should be noted that all of Mariam’s little ones, including the last little one, were born naturally and she never experienced any complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
After the birth of 23 cubs, the woman went to the doctor, she asked the doctors to sterilize her, but she was refused, citing the fact that this operation would cause irreparable harm to her health.
All the offspring of this unique woman were born to the same man. Mariam’s cubs include six pairs of twins, four pairs of triplets and three pairs of quadruplets. Three more times, she gave birth to one each.
It is not difficult to guess that rearing such a large number of young is very difficult, especially under the conditions which are presently observed in Uganda.
This is why journalist Kassim Kairi, who told Mariam’s story on his Facebook page, asks all those who are not indifferent to help this family financially.
