The son asked his father to grow a huge sunflower, and he took the request very seriously.
Quarantine has proven to be a great time for many to try their hand at activities like baking bread or gardening.
True, some have taken these simple activities to the next level – the Briton Douglas Smith, for example, at the request of his son, decided to plant a giant sunflower.
The boy asked his father to grow a flower the size of their house, and the father did. And even a little exaggerated.
Douglas therefore ordered seeds from John Butler, who had grown the North American record sunflower, which boasted a height of 8 meters.
The family planted the flower in March and cared for it during quarantine. And thanks to the efforts of gardeners, the sunflower grew so quickly.
The 6-meter-tall flower even exceeded Stellan’s expectations, as it turned out to be even higher than the house.
In order to prevent such a giant from falling, Douglas built a special mount that supports the sunflower.
According to the man, the growth of the sunflower did not stop there – it will be able to grow another 3-6 centimeters.
The sunflower grown by Douglas and Stellan has become the largest in Britain. It can therefore be assumed that Douglas complied with his son’s request, and even did so with a margin.
