In the family of 32-year-old Nicola and Todd Bailey from Sheffield (UK), unusual twin girls were born. One of the cubs has a congenital disease – Down’s syndrome.
This case was called “one in a million”. Doctors were unaware of the disease until the babies were born.
Harper was born first, 38 minutes earlier than her sister Quinn.
After the birth, the doctors apologized for not recognizing the pathology. But the couple don’t see Harper’s illness as a problem and believe doctors have done their best.
“All I remember is the doctor standing up and apologizing. But as soon as I saw the little ones, my heart melted. Both were so wonderful. During the ultrasound, the specialists did not reveal any developmental abnormalities, ”explains the mother.
The woman claims that the twins have a close relationship with each other. Young Quinn is jealous of Harper because the older one has already grown out her hair.
“Quinn is jealous because she only has blond fuzz on her head, and Harper already has a whole ponytail of brown hair.” Harper started smiling before her little sister,” says Nicola.
When the eldest of the twins turns 6, she will undergo heart surgery. Cardiac pathologies are typical of children with this syndrome. The children’s mother says that the children cannot be compared because they are different.
The couple have an eldest son of a few years, Lucas, who was eager to meet the sisters.
