While editing a video about beautiful actresses who were popular in the 80s and 90s of the last century, I suddenly remembered a scene from the movie “Under Siege” starring Steven Seagal, when a spectacular blonde suddenly jumped out of a cake in a rather revealing look for those times, the image of which was embodied by the American actress Erika Eleniak.
The bright roles of this beauty were remembered by many TV viewers, but over time the actress disappeared from TV screens, occasionally appearing only in episodes. What happened to her and how does she look now?

The future star was born on September 29, 1969, Erica in the small town of Glendale (California) to attorney and expert witness Dale Alan Eleniak and Iris Maya Eleniak-Arnold. Her paternal great-great-grandfather, Vasil Eleniak, was the first Ukrainian settler in Canada, while her mother had Estonian and German roots. Erica has a younger sister, Alexis (born 1973), who became a swimming instructor.

Erika showed her acting talents early, and her family encouraged this in every possible way. Of course, Erika’s uncle was the Canadian film and voice actor Eddie Carroll (Eleniak), whom everyone idolized.
At his suggestion, the young talent began attending all sorts of castings at the age of 10, acting in any proposed project (usually in advertising). The efforts made were not in vain and in 1982, the 13-year-old girl appeared in the frame of Steven Spielberg’s film “E.T.” as a beautiful classmate with whom the main character was in love.

The parents and the girl were inspired, but fame and success did not come after this role and only 5 years later, in 1987, Erika Eleniak was invited to the cinema again. She played episodic roles in the TV series “Silver Spoons” and “Still Beaver”, and a year later she played a schoolgirl who disappeared after graduation (film “Fallen Angel”, 1988).
The year of triumph for the actress was 1989, when she was invited to star in the TV series “Baywatch” in the role of charming Shawnee McClain. In the same year, Erica starred for the cover of Playboy magazine and became the dream of millions of American teenagers.

Three years later, in 1992, the actress decided to leave the successful TV series and try to get out of the role of a girl running around in a red bathing suit. But alas, the directors saw her exclusively as a fatal seductress, so the next role she got was typical: she played the role of Jordan Tate, “Miss July 89” according to Playboy magazine, who was invited to the battleship Missouri to entertain the sailors. By and large, the actress played herself in it, but it was for this role that many TV viewers remembered her.
Erica’s parameters in 1994: height 168 cm, weight 54 kg, bust 86 cm, waist 61 cm, hips 81 cm.

This was followed by The Beverly Hillbillies (1993) and Chasers (1994), the latter of which was a box office failure, grossing less than $1.6 million on a $15 million budget.

Similar roles followed one after another, although directors noted Erika Eleniak’s fearless approach to her craft, her willingness to show off her body, her stunning sensuality on screen, and her ability to instantly transform from a sweet girl into a real bitch. This actress has been compared to Sharon Stone more than once, with her much greater sensual potential being said to be greater than Sharon’s.

In the late 1990s, Erika Eleniak appeared in a number of films, including “The Thermal Killer” (1997), “Game Without Rules” (1998), “One Hot Afternoon” (1998), “The Prisoner” (1998), “Project Pandora” (1998) and a cameo role in the TV series “Fantasy Island” (1999). The roles and plots are almost the same everywhere: big money is at stake, gangsters are shooting around and beautiful, money-hungry ladies are trying to grab their jackpot.

Participation in unsuccessful films and similar roles did not benefit the actress’s career, and she was invited to film less and less often. In the early 2000s, we can also note the film “Opponent” (2000), “I’ve Had Enough” (2002) and the film “Million Dollar Baby” (2004).

In 2005, Erika decided to focus on other aspects of her life and left the world of cinema. In 2010, 5 years later, 41-year-old Erika Eleniak played Barbara Fine in the popular series Desperate Housewives and a little later appeared in several more projects, but since 2019 she has completely disappeared from TV screens.

As for her personal life, the actress was married twice: her first husband was nutritionist Philip Goglia (1998-2000), and her second was production technician Roch Daigle (2005-2007), with whom she gave birth to her only daughter, Indiana (born in 2006).

Erika Eleniak is currently not acting in films, but occasionally appears at social events, sometimes shocking the public with her appearance. At some point, the actress cut off her luxurious locks, appearing before everyone with a short haircut. In addition, she had prolonged depressions and problems with excess weight, which is why there were rumors that Erika had serious health problems.

In 2023, Erika appeared before her fans with tattoos that adorn both of her arms, which surprised and even upset them. Now the actress, according to her, has immersed herself in the world of spirituality and personal growth, which is why she rarely appears in public. Erika Eleniak now teaches acting to aspiring actors and there is talk that she should play the role of an alternative Marilyn Monroe at an older age (but this is not certain).

I suppose that the actress simply did not advertise her life and health problems to the public, which undoubtedly plays a positive role in her perception, because some celebrities do nothing but drag themselves from show to show, savoring all their difficulties and causing not only pity, but also hostility. Erika Eleniak looks good for her 54 years, but we will always remember her differently – young and beautiful!
