Prince Harry, who still has strained relations with his brother William, moved to the US after stepping back from royal duties and officially changing his residence. However, this has not prevented him from visiting the UK. Notably, his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, never accompany him. Royal experts have previously explained why the younger son of Charles III and Princess Diana prefers not to bring his children to his homeland.
In an interview for the ITV documentary “Tabloids on Trial,” the 39-year-old Duke of Sussex shared the reasons behind Meghan’s absence.
According to Harry, he is deeply concerned about his wife’s safety. He believes that there are individuals who, influenced by the negative press coverage about Meghan, might attempt to harm her. “It’s still dangerous, and all it takes is one person who reads those materials to act on what they’ve read.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a knife or acid. Whatever it is, it’s something that genuinely worries me. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t want to bring my wife back to this country,” the prince said.
His concerns are not unfounded. In 2022, Neil Basu, the former head of counter-terrorism for London’s Metropolitan Police, reported that there were real threats to Meghan Markle’s life in the UK. At that time, law enforcement took action against those spreading threats.
