Yesterday, January 30, the magazines reported the sad news of the death of the famous actress Catherine O’Hara, best known as Kevin’s mother in Home Alone. The film star passed away at the age of 71. The official cause of the actress’s death has not yet been announced, but the first details about Catherine’s final hours have already emerged.
According to 911 dispatch records, in the last hours of her life Catherine O’Hara experienced severe breathing difficulties. A representative of the Los Angeles Fire Department stated that early Friday morning, paramedics were called to the star’s home in Brentwood to provide medical assistance. Emergency responders were forced to transport Catherine to the hospital, as her condition was extremely critical.

It is still unclear what exactly caused O’Hara’s death, but according to her agency, Creative Artists Agency, the legendary actress died after a short illness. Some international media outlets, citing their own sources, report that Catherine had a rare condition known as dextrocardia with situs inversus. This is a rare congenital defect in which the organs in the chest and abdominal cavity are positioned as a mirror image of normal anatomy.
However, some sources close to the star claim that no serious illnesses had previously been known. Just days before her shocking death, O’Hara had been preparing to begin filming the second season of Seth Rogen’s series The Studio, in which she played the role of Patty Leigh.

The actress is survived by her husband, production designer Bo Welch, as well as their two adult sons, Matthew and Luke.
Catherine O’Hara is best known for her roles in Home Alone, the Beetlejuice duology, and the television series Schitt’s Creek, The Studio, and The Last of Us. She is a two-time Emmy Award winner and recipient of numerous other honors.
