A man met his great-great-grandson when he was 108. The unforgettable occasion meant everything to him, and he was happy to learn that the baby was named after him.
Esmond Allcock was on course to become Canada’s oldest resident in 2018. Husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather were all born in 1910 and lived long and rich lives. His family was very important to him and he tried hard to keep in touch with everyone.
Jenna Lehne named her son Esmond after his grandfather. For three decades, it has been a constant in her life. While few children get to meet their grandparents, baby Esmond did.
Lehne recalled her great-grandfather helping her crawl as she informed him she wanted to “leave”. When he found out she was having her first child, he told his friends and family about it. He was delighted and proud. Walking. Walking. Walking.
He told his wife that none of his 71 descendants were named after him when she told him she was expecting another son. Lehne and her husband immediately agreed that their second child would be named after her. He said something surprising.
As soon as she could, Lehne escorted the child to see her great-grandfather. “When we arrived he had no idea who I was.” He recognized my grandparents, but he wasn’t sure about me. The meeting did not go as planned. said
Despite that, he couldn’t take his eyes off the little Esmond he loved to hold in his arms. He immediately remembered Lehne as the little girl he used to “Walk Walk” in the middle of their stay. It was a wonderful opportunity for her.
The closeness between Esmond Senior and Esmond Junior has enhanced the family holiday. They were inseparable, especially since he became engaged with the newest member of his family. The great-grandfather was overwhelmed with emotion.
“You have no idea what this means to me,” he said. It meant a lot to Lehne, who considered herself lucky to still have her in her life. She said he frequently inquired about the child and requested information. saying
“Once the snow melts, we’ll be on our way to see him again,” Lehne added. “Great-great-grandfather Esmond, little Ez and daughter ‘Walk Walk’ will be there. Netizens were also moved by the story.
“Lovely friendship and moving story,” one person said. Others described it as a pleasant interaction and said, “I miss my grandfather.” “I know he was honored,” said another commenter. Esmond Senior will never forget this moment.
