Hollywood stars with Australian roots teamed up in director Emerald Fennell’s film “Wuthering Heights,” based on the novel by Emily Brontë. They played the lovers Catherine and Heathcliff. Margot Robbie admitted that she became codependent on Jacob Elordi during filming.
“I get very attached to the people I work with. I love everyone so deeply and I always get very upset when a project ends — I never want it to be over. I think that happened very quickly for me with Jacob as well,” Margot said.
The 35-year-old actress recalled that her 28-year-old co-star was constantly nearby while she was shooting her scenes, even when he didn’t need to be on camera. “I don’t know whether Emerald told you to do this or you decided on your own, but I remember that during the first couple of days on set you were always around me, kind of off to the side, watching Cathy,” Robbie said, addressing Elordi.
“I didn’t tell him to do that. In fact, I had to ask him to leave,” Fennell clarified.
“I caught myself constantly looking around to see where he was. When I couldn’t see him, I got very nervous and lost my composure. I felt lost, like a child without a blanket or something like that,” the Oscar nominee admitted.
Jacob, in turn, said he also felt an incredible chemistry with his co-star. “We have a shared obsession. If you ever get the chance to be on set with Margot Robbie, you’ll always be within five to ten meters of her, watching her drink tea, watching her eat… She’s like an elite star,” he said.
The Euphoria actor added that he fully experienced his character’s love for the heroine played by the Barbie star. “There was a moment when we were running hand in hand across the heather moors — maybe not even in frame, just in the background — and I looked at her, and she looked at me, and I truly felt that I was looking at Catherine and she was looking at Heathcliff. In that moment, we really became part of their love, genuinely,” Jacob added.
After her candid revelations, Margot Robbie faced a wave of backlash online.
