For several days in a row, a little girl would come to my front door, stand there for a few minutes, and then run off: I became worried for her safety, so I decided to find her parents—and what I discovered was completely unexpected 😲😱
Almost every day, precisely at noon, the same little girl appeared on my doorstep. Beautifully dressed, with chubby cheeks, holding a tiny plush teddy bear in her hands.
She would stand at the door, staring straight into the video intercom camera, as if she was waiting for something.
I was often at work at that time, so I couldn’t open the door to see who she was or why she kept coming. Every time it was the same: the girl would ring the bell, wait a minute or two, and then dash off around the corner.
No car, no adults nearby. Honestly, with each passing day, my worry grew. Where were her parents? Why was such a small child wandering alone?
I began to fear something terrible had happened.

One evening, I couldn’t take it anymore and went to the police with the video recordings. The officers quickly traced the address of the girl’s family and called her mother to the station. That’s when we learned something completely unexpected.
When the woman entered and heard why she had been summoned, she suddenly burst out laughing.
“Sorry,” she said, wiping away tears, “it’s just that my daughter is at that age where she’s curious about everything. We live nearby and often walk down this street. Every time we pass your house, she says, ‘I want to say hello to that lady!’ She runs up to you, rings the bell, and then goes back. I’m always waiting for her by the gate.”

I was stunned.
“But why my house specifically?” I asked.
The woman smiled again:
“You probably don’t remember, but one summer you gave my daughter an apple when she fell. Since then, she feels she must come by every day to wish you a good day.”
The sergeant and I looked at each other and couldn’t stop laughing. It turned out that the “mysterious visitor” was simply a sweet little girl who came every day to say hello to someone who had once shown her a small act of kindness.
