On our first date, my new boyfriend saw my bald head and did something completely unexpected 😢😢
I never imagined how much illness could change my life. When my hair started falling out, I tried not to make a big deal of it. But over time, it disappeared completely and never grew back. At first, I tried hiding it with wigs, then I got used to wearing scarves. It may seem like a small detail, but it became my most painful secret.
I often caught people’s pitying or curious looks. But the hardest part was relationships. The moment any man saw my bald head, they would disappear. No explanations, no calls, no goodbyes.
It hurt so deeply that I decided it was better to live alone than to keep facing betrayal over and over. But… sometimes, you just want to love and be loved. You want simple things: someone to hold your hand, look into your eyes, and say, “You’re the most beautiful to me.”
Recently, I decided to try again. We met online, exchanged messages for a long time, then moved on to calls—we talked for hours, laughed, shared thoughts and dreams.
He seemed exactly the person I had been waiting for. Polite, attentive, easy to talk to. One day, he invited me on a date.
I agreed… but fear gnawed at me. “What if he’s like all the others? What if I end up alone again, only this time with a broken heart?” I kept telling myself.
On the day of the date, I prepared carefully: tied my scarf neatly, wore a nice outfit, applied makeup meticulously. I wanted to look dignified.
He arrived at the café with a bouquet of flowers, smiling, as warm and sincere as he had been in our conversations. But before we could sit down, I felt I could no longer keep this secret.

I looked him in the eyes and quietly said:
— “You know, I need to tell you something important right away.”
And, without giving myself time to change my mind, I removed the scarf.
At that moment, I saw his smile disappear. His eyes scanned the café, as if he were looking for the door to run away. My heart sank. “Here we go again…” I thought.
And then, he did something I truly did not expect.
— “I’m sorry…” I exhaled. “You can leave. I won’t be offended. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened to me.”
Silence hung between us. A few seconds that felt like eternity. He looked at me, at my head, into my eyes. I was already prepared for him to get up and walk away. But suddenly, he spoke.

— “You know…” he said quietly but confidently. “When we started talking, I didn’t even know what you looked like. I didn’t care—whether you were thin or heavy, tall or short. None of that mattered. I enjoyed talking to you. You’re smart, easy to be with, and a great conversationalist. And I realized that what’s most important is who you are inside.”
He smiled slightly and added:
— “If you don’t mind… can I just sit next to you and order us something delicious? Honestly, I’m very hungry.”
I froze, unable to believe my ears. My heart either stopped or began racing a thousand times faster. All these years, I had waited for exactly these words, this reaction. Not pity, not fake support, but simple acceptance.
I smiled genuinely for the first time and nodded.
— “Yes… of course.”
And in that moment, I realized: for the first time in a long while, I was truly happy. And it seems we’ll soon be married.
