The funeral was quiet, restrained, and heavy with sorrow. The air was filled with silence, broken only by muffled sobs. In the center of the hall stood the coffin, draped in white fabric, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Beside it stood the mother, holding her young daughter’s hand. The girl was silent, her curly hair falling across her face. Since the tragedy, she had spoken very little, and everyone assumed she simply didn’t understand what had happened.
When the moment of farewell came, the mother gently leaned down and asked:
— Do you want to say goodbye to Daddy?
The girl nodded. She was lifted up so she could look inside. For a few seconds, she stared at her father’s peaceful face, then whispered:
— Daddy’s just sleeping.
