At the funeral of an 8-year-old girl, the coffin suddenly caught fire, leaving the family horrified when they discovered the cause.
The cemetery was cloaked in silence, as if nature itself mourned alongside them. A light rain fell over the freshly dug grave beneath a gloomy sky. Only close family members attended, not wanting to turn the somber occasion into a spectacle. The young girl had passed away suddenly in her sleep, with doctors later attributing her death to a congenital heart defect.
Dressed in black, the mother’s trembling hands clutched a damp handkerchief, while the father stood silently, his gaze fixed on the ground. The child’s coffin was adorned with roses and stuffed animals, a bittersweet contrast to the sorrowful mood.
As the priest’s prayer was barely audible over the gusting wind, a family member gently placed a small teddy bear—the girl’s hospital companion—inside the coffin. The mourners bowed their heads, some quietly weeping.

Three days later, authorities revealed the cause: a lithium battery sewn inside the teddy bear, which had a built-in nightlight feature. The battery overheated and ignited when compressed beneath the coffin lid.
