After finding a shelter, Pumpkin has undergone a miraculous turnaround. He was discovered on the street in appalling conditions, abandoned, and on the verge of starvation.
Some animal rescue tales have such a profound emotional impact on us that, even after learning of their plight, we are still affected by the emotions they evoked.
For street dogs, life is never simple. They have hard times finding food and fending for themselves. They struggle to find refuge during harsh weather, and many of them perish from famine and hypothermia.
A dog named Pumpkin had very little chance of surviving when he got to the South Suburban Humane Society in Illinois because he was so thin.
The South Suburban Humane Society’s CEO, Emily Klehm, told Newsweek that Pumpkin was a “extreme case” that left them stunned. She described him as “severely malnourished and incapable of walking.”
The much-needed medical assistance was given to Pumpkin. He finally got rid of the matted balls of hair that were making his life a living nightmare by shaving off his fur.
The shelter posted on Facebook, “Thank goodness we were able to place him in foster care, where he is beginning to get better and stand on his own again.” “We are so proud of him thus far, but his journey is far from over.”
Pumpkin quickly gained the ability to stand by himself. Most importantly, he can now run and wag his tail at his rescuers because of the love and attention he has received.
The shelter wrote, “This little man is so strong and getting better every single day.” “[He] is making progress, and we are eager to see how much better he can get!”
Although Pumpkin’s past life is still unknown to the shelter, they don’t think he ever lived with people because he isn’t accustomed to playing with toys and balls or going on a leash.
Before he was eventually saved and given a shot at a better life, nobody truly knew where he resided.
The shelter is hopeful that they can find Pumpkin a caring home. They think it would be best for him to be adopted by people who have had dogs in their homes before.
