A teenager noticed a little girl sitting on the pavement, crying. He decided to approach her — but then something unexpected happened 😲😲
10-year-old Ilya loved spending time at the train station. This noisy, lively corner of the city felt special to him. Sometimes he came here with friends, but more often alone. He liked sitting on the bench by the third track, doing his homework or just watching the trains disappear into the distance, dreaming of future journeys.
That day started as usual. The sun was setting, and a gentle evening breeze drifted along the platform. Ilya settled into his usual spot when he suddenly noticed something strange — very close by, near a lamppost, a little girl was sitting on the pavement. About four or five years old. She tightly hugged a teddy bear and was crying bitterly, paying no attention to anyone.
Ilya was unsure but decided to approach the girl — and then something unexpected happened 😲😲 Continued below 👇👇
He asked,
“Why are you crying? Are you alone?”
The girl didn’t answer, only shook her head and hugged her toy even tighter. Ilya sat down next to her:
“Are you lost? What’s your name?”
“Sasha,” she whispered. “Mom and I were walking… she went to get tickets and told me to sit here. But she’s been gone a long time…”
Ilya frowned. He had been at the station for over half an hour but hadn’t seen any woman with a child.
“Do you know your mom’s phone number?”
The girl nodded and, sniffling, recited it.
Ilya pulled out an old flip phone from his backpack — his parents had given it to him “just in case.” He dialed the number. After a few rings, someone answered.
“Hello?” — a worried female voice.
“Hello. This is… I found your daughter. She’s at the station, near platform three. She’s sitting alone and crying.”
“Oh my God!” the woman almost shouted. “I just stepped away for a minute to get tickets, and she was gone! I’m running around the station, calling security!”
“She’s here. Everything’s okay,” Ilya said. “I’m with her.”
A few minutes later, the woman arrived, out of breath, phone in hand, tears in her eyes. She grabbed the girl in a hug, repeating, “Sashenka, forgive me… forgive me…”
Once things calmed down, the woman looked at Ilya:
“Thank you. I left her for just a second — and she must have gone the wrong way… It’s awful. What if something happened to her? Thank you, you’re a hero.”
Ilya just shrugged. He felt a little embarrassed but had a warm feeling inside. He had simply done what he thought was right.
