Devastating Details: Second Child Passes Away After Poisoned Easter Eggs Sent to Family.

A second child has tragically passed away after allegedly being poisoned by Easter eggs sent by a woman seeking revenge on her ex-boyfriend.

The heartbreaking incident unfolded when Mirian Lira, from Brazil, received chocolate Easter eggs with a note reading: “With love, to Mirian Lira. Happy Easter.” Mirian shared the eggs with her two children, but things took a devastating turn when her son Luis, 7, fell severely ill. Despite his father performing CPR before rushing him to the hospital, Luis went into cardiac arrest and tragically died on April 17.

As Mirian and her 13-year-old daughter, Evelyn Silva, were already in the hospital, both began to feel ill. They displayed symptoms of poisoning, including breathing difficulties and purple-colored hands.

Sadly, Evelyn succumbed to the poisoning and passed away on April 21. The cause of death was determined to be vascular shock, resulting from multiple organ failure. The Imperatriz Municipal Hospital confirmed her condition worsened rapidly, despite treatment efforts.

Authorities arrested Jordélia Pereira Barbosa, the ex-partner of the children’s father, Rafael Silva, after security footage showed her purchasing the poisoned Easter eggs while disguised with a wig. She was apprehended as she stepped off a bus traveling from Imperatriz to her hometown. Police also discovered additional wigs, chocolate, medication, and bus tickets, including one purchased two days before the eggs were sent to Mirian’s home.

While Barbosa claimed she didn’t poison the eggs, investigators suspect jealousy and revenge motivated the act, as she had been in a relationship with the father of the victims.

Mirian remains in stable condition at the hospital.
