“Put the sponge in the freezer overnight.” It sounded strange, but who am I to refuse a home experiment?
Agree, we rarely think about the fact that an ordinary kitchen sponge is literally a breeding ground for bacteria. According to scientists, there are about 10 million microbes on one square centimeter of a sponge! That’s more than on the lid of a toilet seat.
It’s decided— the experiment began. In the morning, I took the sponge out of the freezer, thawed it under hot water, and… Oh, miracle!
✔ The sponge became perfectly clean (at least visually).
✔ The unpleasant odor that had already started to annoy me disappeared.
✔ And the best part — the sponge remained intact and undamaged!
Once a week, I put all my kitchen sponges in the freezer: here’s why I do it.
Now it has become my new useful habit. Once a week, I send the sponges to the freezer and live peacefully. By the way, the sponges last much longer, which is great for my budget.
