Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez graced the premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. She turned heads in a sheer Valdrin Sahiti dress adorned with Hassanzadeh jewelry in the shape of a spiderweb. The black lace dress, with long sleeves, perfectly hugged her feminine figure.
She elongated her legs with black platform heels featuring high ankle straps. The look was completed with a black clutch. Lopez accessorized with a bold statement ring on her right hand’s index finger. Her makeup was classic Hollywood, with a focus on the eyes and a nude lip. Her caramel curls were styled in a voluminous updo, and a cozy faux fur coat kept her warm against the chill.
The musical is set in an Argentine prison, where two inmates, Luis Molina and Valentin Arregui, attempt to connect. Jennifer portrays Aurora, a woman who exists in the imagination of one of the characters. Her ex-husband, 52-year-old Ben Affleck, who she recently divorced, is the executive producer of the film along with his best friend, Matt Damon. Jennifer and actor Diego Luna not only starred in the movie but also took on producing roles. The screenplay and direction were handled by Bill Condon. The film is based on the 1976 novel Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig, which was later adapted into a Broadway musical.
This film marks Lopez’s debut in a full-fledged musical, where she takes the lead role, showcasing her dancing and vocal talents. She shared that she only had a few months to prepare for the role. “I wish I had a whole year to prepare for such a big musical, but we didn’t have that. It’s an independent film, so everything was rushed. We didn’t have a lot of time, and it was really challenging. It was easier for me because I’m a dancer, but for Diego and Tona, it was tough. But we managed, and we got through it.”
Lopez, known for her hit If You Had My Love, admitted that the project was especially meaningful to her. “I never felt like I was born to play any particular role, but I really felt that way with this film. It resonated deeply with me because of my own life and my children. So, I immediately connected with it, and I was so excited,” she added.
