Should there be a limit on who is allowed to wear a swimsuit? Most people would say, “Absolutely not!”—except for my daughter-in-law Janice, who disagrees. After a refreshing trip to Miami Beach with my husband Donald, I felt rejuvenated and loved.

One day, I wore a black bikini, and Donald couldn’t stop praising me. A little girl even captured our sweet moment in a photo, which I later shared on Facebook. But then came Janice’s hurtful comment: “Really? How can she even think of showing off her wrinkled body in a swimsuit? It looks TERRIBLE!” I was devastated. Instead of giving up, I came up with a plan. I suggested inviting everyone to a family barbecue.

When Janice finally arrived, I seized the opportunity to share the photo and explain how it symbolized the love that grows with age. I also revealed her mean comment for everyone to hear and emphasized the importance of kindness and how we all grow old.

Afterward, Janice apologized and admitted her mistake. It can be hard to confront age discrimination within the family, but wrinkles and gray hair are signs of a well-lived life. What do you think?
