The judges and audience of America’s Got Talent were amazed by the “unpredictable” audition of an 88-year-old exotic dancer. Penny, hailed as a national treasure, claimed to be the oldest burlesque dancer in America.
Born in Palm Bay, Florida, Penny took the stage with blue, white, and red feathers during her AGT debut. The captivating senior stated, “I want to give America a real show, a get-up-and-go show!”
When Simon asked if she was single, she revealed she was a widow after six marriages. The media mogul questioned her readiness to marry for the eighth time, to which she responded, “Yes, but breaking them in takes time.”
Penny kicked off her performance with “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” The judges were thrilled as she began to remove her clothing piece by piece. Host Terry Crews celebrated the moment by showering the stage with red, white, and blue confetti.
After praising the 88-year-old contestant, Sofia Vergara said, “Penny, I want to be you when I grow up,” while Heidi Klum expressed her support.
Simon flirted with the lively senior dancer, then posed a bold question that could impact her AGT fate: “If you advance, will more clothes come off?” Penny eagerly agreed.
At this point, judge Howie Mandel chimed in, saying, “I want to see more!” Penny received four yes votes. However, despite advancing to the next round, the judges had to narrow down 138 performers to just 54, ultimately ending the burlesque dancer’s journey on AGT.
