Our grandmother has an ordinary apartment, its area is 45 square meters. The apartment is located in a panel five-story house. Previously, grandmother lived here with grandfather, but he died and she was left alone.
Our grandmother is a very lively and energetic woman. She plays sports, gives injections to her friends, goes shopping. In the summer, grandma lives at our dacha. There, too, she does not sit idly by, but helps in the garden. You will be surprised, but in January of next year she will turn 80 years old. And at such an advanced age, she remains an inexhaustible source of energy.
We did some cosmetic repairs in this room about ten years ago. Our grandfather didn’t want to do a major overhaul. About 5 years ago we did a full overhaul of the kitchen, bathroom and toilet.
Now we finally convinced grandma to do some renovations in grandpa’s room. We convinced her to replace the radiator. We also wanted to install suspended ceilings and linoleum on the floor, but grandma didn’t agree to that.

Here we have already started to remove the covering from the walls and ceiling. We removed layers of wallpaper for about three days. The thing is that when we did “cosmetics” last time, grandpa did not allow us to tear off the old wallpaper.
When we finally finished removing it, we primed the walls and got rid of the construction debris.
Then we applied gypsum plaster to the wall surfaces. My husband changed the location of the switches.
Then we puttied the walls and ceiling. For the walls we used gypsum putty, and for the ceiling we used finishing and polymer base. Three layers were applied to the ceiling.
During the renovation we replaced the radiator. Only the neighbors from the upper floor did not let us into the apartment.
In this photo we have almost completely sanded the surfaces.
Then we pasted ceiling plinths and painted them together with the ceiling surface. Then the main process began – wallpapering. We chose vinyl wallpaper on a non-woven base. One of the walls was decorated with a pattern, and all the others were covered with wallpaper in one tone.
Our granny is a woman with character and her own opinion. She forbade changing the cabinets. She believes that this furniture is a memory of grandpa. Moreover, the carpet was cut specifically for the cabinets. But she agreed to a new sofa, we ordered it in an online store, we are waiting for delivery.
Here is the final result. Nothing special, but grandma is very happy.
