George and his women
George Clooney, who earned the reputation of an inveterate bachelor, was actually married once. This “stupid mistake” happened in 1989 in Las Vegas, where the actor, having given in to passion, married his beloved Talia Balsan.
Surprisingly, they did not get divorced after a couple of days, as often happens with newlyweds who rush to make a serious decision in Vegas, but lived together for five years. The experience was so unpleasant for Clooney (though, to his credit, we note that he never spoke badly of his ex-wife) that for the next 20 years, not a single companion of the ladies’ man managed to drag him to the registry office. And there were indeed many girls.
Among those whose hearts Clooney broke was, for example, actress Renee Zellweger, whom he dated for several months. There were also “simpler” options – at one time George went out with a waitress he met at a bar.
The actor had a rather serious relationship for four years with the TV presenter and gorgeous beauty Elisabetta Canalis, who is 18 years younger than him. However, Clooney takes such good care of his appearance that the age difference was not very noticeable. The Italian star was constantly seen next to the actor, but they soon had to break up.
Canalis often told journalists in interviews that she dreamed of marrying her partner. George was not at all happy with such excessive frankness, and he suggested that the girl go their separate ways.
That same Amal
Clooney met his future wife, Amal Alamuddin, a lawyer of Lebanese origin, in his favorite city – Venice. Before the wedding, the lovers dated for only a year – their romance began in October 2013. That is, the actor needed only a few months to “mature” for a proposal – a record!
Clooney didn’t particularly hide his relationship with Amal – less than a month had passed before rumors of a wedding appeared, which the actor himself soon happily confirmed by going out in public with his beautiful bride.
It is interesting that just a month before meeting his one and only, Clooney said the following in an interview: “I personally always like my life the way it is. And the unhealthy interest in my love affairs still discourages me. After all, I have already said a hundred thousand times that I will never marry again and do not want to have children!” His new lover managed to convince him quickly!
George Clooney’s wife’s family is quite wealthy and respected. Amal’s parents left Lebanon when she was a little girl and have lived in England ever since. George’s mother-in-law, Baria, is the editor of the international news department of the Lebanese newspaper Al Hayat and was previously a television announcer.
Alamuddin inherited her striking appearance from her mother – Baria is a very striking woman, she enjoyed great success in Lebanon, was a socialite and even inspired the famous poet Said Akl to dedicate a poem to her.
Amal’s father, Ramzi Alamuddin, returned to Lebanon in 1991 and now teaches at the University of Beirut. He raised Amal to be a thinking person – from an early age, thanks to her father, she began to take an interest in politics, human rights and jurisprudence.
George and Amal got married in September 2014, and in 2017 their twins were born – son Alexander and daughter Ella.
In 2011, the actor began an affair with Stacy Keibler, a former wrestler. Stacy had one wonderful quality that George really appreciated in her – she did not want a serious relationship, preferring casual meetings without obligations. This went on for two years, but then Keibler “broke”: she, like everyone else, wanted to become a mother, to start a family. That’s where it all ended.
It’s funny, but the tabloids wrote at the time that George came up with a very sophisticated reason for the breakup: he told Stacey that he was seriously ill and therefore unable to be a father of a family.
To be fair, Clooney seemed to bring good luck to all his girlfriends in the future. Firstly, having appeared with him on the red carpet several times, they also became popular and achieved success in their careers.
Secondly, after breaking up with a Hollywood star, many of them immediately got married. Elisabetta Canalis, for example, walked down the aisle just a week before Clooney and Alamuddin’s wedding, and Stacy Keibler, as she wanted, gave birth to a child and is happy with her husband, Jared Pobr.
