Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon reunited at the Better World Fund Gala in Venice. Both were guests of honor. The 69-year-old actor tenderly embraced Susan, 77, as they posed on the red carpet during the event. Costner wore a black suit, complemented by a crisp white button-down shirt and elegant, shiny shoes.
Susan appeared in a black jumpsuit with a low neckline, paired with a leather belt and a statement necklace. She applied bright red lipstick and wore a classic hairstyle with side-swept bangs. The Thelma & Louise actress completed her makeup with blush and eyeliner.
After the event, Kevin spoke warmly of Sarandon. “There’s nothing like catching up with an old friend. It’s good to see you, Susan, we’ve come a long way since Bull Durham,” the actor said.
Kevin and Susan played lovers in the aforementioned 1988 film. Sarandon’s character is interested in English classical literature. She meets a baseball player played by Costner, after which their lives begin to go through difficult twists and turns.
Kevin is currently busy with another project. The actor is preparing to present the film Horizons: Part Two at the Venice Film Festival, which will premiere on Saturday. Costner directed, produced and wrote the epic Western, in which he stars alongside Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington and Jena Malone.
Horizons: Part One was released in June. It was critically panned and was a box office flop. The next film has been delayed indefinitely. Kevin financed the film, admitting to putting $38 million of his own money into the project after decades of trying to find a studio to shoot in and even taking out a mortgage on his Santa Barbara home.
Kevin has three children with his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner: Kaidan, Hayes, and Grames. He has older children Annie, Lily, and Joe from his first marriage to Cynthia Silva. The director had a son, Liam, out of wedlock with Bridget Rooney.
