Meghan Markle and Prince Harry broke a long-standing royal custom by changing their children’s surnames.🤯

Oh, those Megan and Harry—they continue to distance themselves from the royal family. It turns out that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have changed their children’s surnames. Now, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor will be known as Archie and Lilibet Sussex. Quite the rebranding for the family.

By the way, this move breaks a long-standing tradition established by Queen Elizabeth II in 1960. Her late Majesty wanted all her heirs to have the surname Mountbatten-Windsor. Although it’s just a formality, since Archie and Lilibet would eventually have their own titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided not to wait.

The homepage features a photo of the couple taken at the Invictus Games, adorned with their royal coat of arms and the inscription “Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” There is no mention of the word “royal” on the site, indicating a deliberate move away from their previous royal connections.
