Zoo staff have never seen such affection before 🌟 Heartbreaking yet beautiful! A dying chimpanzee said a human-like goodbye to the man she knew for over 40 years. You should see that moment by yourself.
A chimpanzee named Mama lived in the Amsterdam Zoo for half a century. She was already 69 years old when she felt that her end was approaching. The monkey began to refuse food. She just lay curled up in the corner of the enclosure.
Professor Jan Van Hoff is a zoologist. Back in 1972, then still an aspiring scientist, Ian worked with monkeys at the zoo. It was he who raised Mom.
Almost 50 years have passed since they last met. Van Hoff, having learned about Mom’s condition, decided to say goodbye to his old friend.
When he entered the enclosure, at first the chimpanzee did not recognize the man. But then Mom realized who was in front of her. The monkey lit up with happiness. Mom was sincerely happy to meet Van Hoff. She smiled, stroked his face and hugged her friend. The elderly zoologist was touched by such a meeting.
A week later the chimpanzee was gone. Employees say she left in her sleep. Calm and quiet. No pain.
They remember that Mom was an amazing animal. She enjoyed enormous authority in her pack. She was able to resolve any conflicts within the chimpanzee team.
“Everyone at the zoo will miss her,” admitted behavioral scientist Frans de Waal. He said that he had rarely met such wonderful personalities in his life, both among animals and people.
