The story of the Egyptian Sisa Abu Dauh shows how sacrificial a mother can be towards her child. A woman was forced to wear men’s clothing for 43 years in order to get a job and feed her daughter. In 2015, the Egyptian government honored Sisa with the “Ideal Motherhood” award.
At the age of 16 she got married, but while she was pregnant, her husband died. After a while, the girl was offered to go to the altar again, but she did not agree, believing that she would betray her daughter. As a result, she had to look for work to feed herself and the child.
And since in Egypt 40 years ago it was difficult for a woman to find a job, Sisa decided to dress up as a man and thus earn a living.
The woman first worked at a construction site, carrying bricks and mixing concrete, then harvested crops in the fields, and then began cleaning shoes at the station. This is what she does now. Dauch earns about 10 pounds a day, which is less than one dollar.
The heroine’s daughter was raised by her grandmother all this time. The girl dropped out of school and, following the example of her mother, got married early, managing to give birth to five children. Her husband cannot work because he is seriously ill, so Sisa now has to support her daughter’s entire large family. Every morning she gets up at 6 am and goes to the station to shine her shoes.

Despite the fame she has gained, the 69-year-old heroine continues to work hard for the benefit of her family.
