Transformation of style: From the drabness of the driveway to delight in the kitchen. The journey of renovation in photos.
The kitchen is a narrow space, which is additionally connected to the balcony. In the past, before renovations, it had its own unique character. The walls in the kitchen were divided in half: one half was painted and the other was covered with white paint. This is a typical phenomenon for Soviet apartments, where similar repairs were used both in living quarters and in entrances. The standard was the same.
The main goal of the renovation was to transform the narrow kitchen into a square space and visually balance its proportions. Removing the partition between the kitchen and the balcony gave the kitchen a train carriage-like appearance. However, this style left much to be desired, so something had to be changed. There was previously a mosaic on one of the walls, which could have attracted attention and added a touch of originality, but it was replaced with tiles.
The color palette of the kitchen was chosen in practical, but rather boring shades, which prevents the creation of a special style. This is exactly what this kitchen is missing to make it unique.
The ceiling was equipped with a large number of lighting sources, which is unusual for a kitchen space. Bright lighting in the kitchen is certainly important when cooking, but it is not always suitable for the dining area. The kitchen furniture here has a clear and minimalist form, which may indicate the owners’ desire to avoid design excesses.
Moving the refrigerator to the balcony is an interesting solution, which, however, involves additional physical activity if you need to get food. Perhaps, in this case, curtains in the kitchen would be appropriate, despite the general dislike for them.
