After experiencing hail damage, it became necessary to replace our roof. However, the damage extended to the siding, prompting us to consider a transformation inspired by the elegant Craftsman Bungalow style, which we had always admired. Thus, we made the decision to install new roofing, siding, and window wraps.
After
Despite encountering a few unforeseen challenges along the way, we managed to remain within our budget. Our contractor has repeatedly praised the exceptional appearance of our home, a sentiment with which we wholeheartedly agree. Our efforts did not go unnoticed, as our house received numerous compliments, culminating in a notable recognition from our village: a third-place win in the “Pride of Ownership” contest the summer following the renovation. Additionally, in May 2012, our home was honored with a historical plaque from the village’s Historical Society. The society’s description of our house highlighted our commitment to restoring its exterior in a historically sensitive manner, faithfully reproducing period details. Despite being constructed in 1924-1925, our house no longer exudes an outdated appearance. We now reside in a home that fills us with pride.
