Is it worth building?
Not so long ago, such metal frames were used only for transport purposes. At the moment, commercial buildings, warehouses, security posts and much more are being built from them.
Sea or rail containers as living quarters are also becoming more common. They can be bought ready-made – with insulation and all communications. The construction of country houses involves structures of 20 feet or more.
A house from one container can be built in about a month, and the construction of a larger structure will take 2–3 months.
1. Preparation – this stage consists of collecting documentation, building a plan and project with a full estimate (building materials, insulation, electrical wiring, doors, etc.). You also need to calculate the costs of transporting the containers themselves (payment for crew services, delivery and installation).
2. Construction – the actual stage of constructing the structure. This involves preparing and pouring the foundation, installing drainage and ventilation on the roof, installing windows and doors, covering the walls with insulation and covering them with clapboard. Before laying sewerage and electrical wiring, you need to make sure that they are connected to the site.
Among the obvious advantages of such structures are practicality, durability and efficiency of construction. In addition, compared to other structures, a house made from block containers will cost much less, and will look much more aesthetically pleasing.
The downside is essentially the containers themselves: the metal base makes them cold for winter and hot for summer. In addition, it is recommended to place such houses on a foundation, since damp soil after snow and rain can have a detrimental effect on the material.
If you compare structures made from containers with brick, panel or wood, they will last less time. And to install doors and windows, you need to be able to work with a welding machine and a metal saw.
Such a structure is made from a decommissioned container, so before purchasing you should check the quality of its components. External and internal sides, seams and joints must be in proper condition, otherwise problems will arise already at the construction stage.
