In her first own apartment, designer Violetta Koltan used many bright color accents and non-standard solutions that she had long wanted to use and which clients did not dare to use.
Briefly
Designer Violetta Coltan lives in this apartment with her husband and rabbit. After a partial redevelopment, it was possible to equip a separate bedroom with a work space, a spacious and functional dressing room, as well as a common kitchen-living room area with another work space. They also provided a block for washing and drying equipment, which was removed from the bathroom in order to preserve as much free space there as possible.
Details
All the walls in the apartment are ready to be painted – this choice of material was chosen so that the pet would not spoil the finish. There is laminate flooring in the living rooms, porcelain tiles in the kitchen area, hallway and bathroom. The wall behind the sofa is decorated with natural wood panels and coated with a protective matte varnish. Several surfaces – behind the TV in the living room and behind the bed in the bedroom – are decorated with duropolymer panels and painted in the color of the walls. This solution adds volume and geometry, but does not draw attention to itself.
The walls behind the desk in the living room and the walls in the hallway are decorated with clapboard and painted in a dark graphite shade. Behind the false TV wall, on one side, there is a household unit for washing equipment, and on the other side, a refrigerator is hidden in the kitchen.
In the apartment it was important to preserve those things that keep and will keep memories. So, in the living room, instead of a TV stand, we installed my grandmother’s old radio. Violetta’s husband made the side table in the bedroom, and he installed the panels behind the sofa in the living room and the paneling together with his father. The hanging shelf in the hallway was made by the owner’s grandfather.
The kitchen was separated from the living room using a sliding partition made of metal and glass. The kitchen set was made to order. The lower cabinets store large utensils for cooking, and there is a pull-out drawer for cutlery, small household appliances and cereals. The upper sections contain dishes, bulk products and rarely used cooking items. The kitchen is equipped with all necessary appliances: dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven and free-standing refrigerator.
In the bathroom, the original layout was completely abandoned: they replaced the bathtub with a shower cabin, placed a hanging installation, above which it was possible to organize a lot of storage space and hide the boiler. In wet areas, tiles were laid on the walls, and surfaces where there is no direct contact with water were painted with washable green paint. The washbasin cabinet is equipped with a large mirror and drawers for cosmetics.
