Sophia Blake lives in the suburbs of Birmingham and has two daughters. The eldest has dark skin, like her mother, but the youngest, Tiara, was born with absolutely white skin and blue eyes, like her father. The doctors explained to Sophia that the chance of such a result was one in a million, but he was the one who got confused!
Today, Sophia is 45 years old, her husband Christopher is 60 years old, the eldest daughter Doncha (from another marriage) is 17 years old and the youngest Tiara is 4 years old. Sophia and Christopher live separately, and the youngest daughter is almost always with her mother.
A white-skinned, blue-eyed daughter next to a dark-skinned mother raises questions from almost everyone and always. They don’t look alike and people can’t understand that they are mother and daughter. After all, “black” genes are usually dominant.
It’s not as funny as it sounds. There are problems at school with teachers, in hospitals with doctors – insofar as a woman is asked to show documents or explain who she is – the girl’s guardian or a social worker .
And the little one asks his mother a question: “Mom, why do we look different?” “. I have to explain something about the mixing of races, but due to her age she cannot understand this and the subject continues to confuse her.
Sofia says: “When she was born, I was so amazed that I asked the midwife if she was really my daughter. I couldn’t believe the little one was so pale and had blue eyes.
The doctors explained that it’s a rare chance (one in a million) and probably had a white gene in my family that was still dormant. I have read other similar cases. But, unlike them, my little one also has non-African hair.”
“When people know us better, they understand that my daughter and I are very similar – a temperament. We are both outgoing, very independent and with a sense of humor. Of course, I’m proud of my daughter – but how else? – but I really think she is very beautiful”.
