Hollywood heartthrob and eternal gentleman George Clooney, who is famously disliked by Donald Trump, revealed how he has managed not to have a single argument in 11 years of marriage with Amal. That’s right—no thrown plates, no dramatic “we need to talk” moments.
The actor shared this in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, and even the journalist initially found such marital bliss hard to believe. But Clooney quickly set the record straight. It turns out the secret lies in age and life experience.
“When you marry at 32, it’s one thing. But at 52, it’s completely different,” the actor explained. He added, with his signature humor, that insurance for young drivers is higher for a reason—they’re more impulsive, aggressive, and always want to be right.

By 52, however, he knew the most important lesson: not every argument needs to be won, especially when you’re with the woman you’re head over heels in love with. Before meeting Amal, George hadn’t even planned on a wedding or children. But as the saying goes, “never say never”—especially when the right person comes along and turns your life upside down—in the best way.
According to Clooney, the key to their harmony isn’t perfection—it’s perspective. As you grow older, you start valuing peace over proving you’re right. “When you’re young, you want to win at everything. Now, it’s more important for me just not to fight,” the actor admits.
Though, as George joked, he hasn’t given up—he just chooses to be wiser. Especially after his motorcycle accident, when he crashed at around 120 km/h into a car windshield and literally flew into the air.

So when Amal said, “I think the motorcycles are done,” George didn’t argue. He simply replied, “Okay. Fair enough.” Though he admitted he misses that adrenaline almost every day—just as his wife sometimes misses the cigarettes she quit smoking on his advice.
And perhaps this is the real secret to their marriage: they might miss their bad habits, but they don’t miss the fights.
