Flying is supposed to be relaxing … until the guy behind me made my armrest his footrest : Time to school him in common decency.

When the man behind me on the plane suddenly planted his grimy foot right on my armrest, I knew I had to teach him a lesson in manners 😲😤

The flight had just reached cruising altitude. I opened my book, put on my headphones, and settled into my window seat, ready for a peaceful journey. That peace shattered the moment something cold and unpleasant brushed my arm.

I turned slowly—and froze. A dirty, gray-stained sock, once probably white, was resting squarely on my armrest.

“Hey!” I shouted, furious. “What the heck is this?”

He didn’t budge, eyes glued to his magazine. “Calm down, my love,” he said casually. “It’s a little cramped here.”

“Cramped? That’s no excuse to treat my armrest like your personal footrest!” I snapped.

Finally, he glanced back at me, grinning. “Go sit in business class if you don’t like it,” he shrugged, foot firmly in place.

Passengers nearby were starting to notice. I felt my face flush.

“Would you like a pillow too? Maybe a pedicure?” I muttered under my breath.

He snorted. “You’re too uptight. I’m not hurting anyone, so relax.”

I ground my teeth. “No, just my armrest, please.” The flight was off to a great start.

I decided to stay calm—but I plotted a small lesson he wouldn’t forget 🤔🫣

A few minutes later, I asked the flight attendant for hot, black, sugar-free tea. When it arrived, his heel nudged my elbow again.

I turned, smiled innocently, and said, “You know, you were right. We should definitely relax.”

And then, accidentally-on-purpose, I tipped the hot tea directly onto his foot.

“Ah! Are you crazy?!” he yelped, jerking his leg back.

I blinked and replied with the sweetest, most innocent smile, “Oh, I’m so sorry… it’s a little cramped here, you understand?”

Fellow passengers tried to hide their smiles, and the flight attendant even winked as she passed.

The man sat quietly for the rest of the flight, both feet tucked safely under his seat.

Lesson learned: sometimes a little “airplane etiquette” goes a long way 😏✈️
