It was a quiet, cold winter day. The train engineer was following his usual route—everything seemed normal. But then something unusual caught his attention: a pack of wolves was standing right on the tracks.
They didn’t run away or hide in the forest, as wild predators usually do when they see a train. Instead, the wolves seemed to deliberately block the train’s path. Their amber eyes glowed in the headlights, and they howled, one after another, so loudly and long that the engineer was startled.
Instinctively, he hit the brakes. The wheels screeched, and the train continued for a few meters by momentum, nearly hitting one of the wolves. Yet the animals didn’t move. They stayed on the tracks, refusing to let the steel machine advance.
At first, the engineer thought the wolves had gone mad or were hungry and ready to attack. But then he squinted, trying to see why they were standing on the rails.
That’s when he noticed it: right on the tracks, among the white snow, was something strange and unusual 😱😱

Leaning down, the engineer checked for a pulse. The man was alive but barely breathing. He revived him, rubbing his hands and checking his breathing. The injured man struggled to open his eyes; his lips trembled from the cold, but he managed to whisper a few words:

It turned out the man had indeed been the victim of an attack. Several people had beaten him and left him on the tracks, hoping the next train would finish the job.
But the wolves, sensing danger, had gathered and blocked the tracks, protecting him until the last moment.
The engineer called for help over the radio. While waiting for rescuers, he covered the man with everything he could find in the cabin—an old blanket and his jacket. Meanwhile, the wolves stayed close, watching every move carefully.
When the rescuers arrived to take the man away, the pack slowly retreated into the forest. Their mission was complete.
