“I switched up the menu,” the actor reveals in both the film and the book, describing how he tried something new after years of being with women. Reflecting on his sexuality, he says he no longer hides from his past but owns it: “I’m not going to run from my past or let it own me,” Sheen explained in a recent interview.

When asked how it feels to speak publicly for the first time about intimacy with men, Sheen replied: “Liberating. It’s so damn freeing… just to talk about things. Like, the train didn’t crash into a restaurant. A damn piano didn’t fall from the sky. Nobody burst into the room and shot me.”

Sheen also admitted that his experiences with men began during his drug use: “That’s where it all started. That’s where it was born, or ignited. And in the gaps when I wasn’t using, I tried to navigate it, tried to accept it — like, ‘Where did this come from? Why did it happen?’ And finally, I just thought: ‘So what? Who cares?’ Some of it was weird. A lot of it was insanely fun. And life goes on.”
