That evening, my husband and I decided to order food. He was starving, and I hadn’t had time to cook, so delivery seemed like the easiest solution. We thought it would save time and spare our nerves—but it quickly turned into a nightmare.
We paid for the order in advance, but after two hours, the food still hadn’t arrived. My husband was seriously starting to suspect that the courier had just eaten our dinner himself. Another hour passed—we were on edge, hungry and frustrated.
Finally, there was a knock at the door. A young guy, no older than eighteen, stood there. He looked utterly exhausted—his eyes dull, breathing heavy, hands trembling. At first, my husband wanted to scold him, but something made him ask why the delivery was so late.
When we heard his story and the reason for the delay, I burst into tears, and my husband could barely hold back his own 😲 Why do young people have to struggle so much in today’s world?
The young man hesitated, then explained: he works as a loader from early morning and takes delivery shifts afterward. He can’t find any other job because he doesn’t have a diploma.
He is the only breadwinner in his family—his father is seriously ill, and his mother is unable to work due to her health.
My husband froze. Instead of getting angry, he listened and offered help—a job in his office, with regular hours and a steady salary.
The young man didn’t believe him at first, thinking it was a joke. But when he saw the sincerity in my husband’s eyes, he broke down, hugging him and saying he hadn’t felt so relieved in a long time. He had been on the verge of exhaustion, his strength nearly gone.
Since that random delivery, the young man’s life began to change, and for us, it became a reminder that behind delays and mistakes, there is sometimes a real struggle to survive.
And I realized why I had chosen this man as my husband: because he has a kind heart and a generous soul.
