A police officer noticed a coffin in the middle of the sidewalk: he got out of the car, approached the coffin, lifted the lid, and froze at what he saw 😱😱
The police sergeant began his shift as usual, with a coffee in a paper cup and a quick check-in with the dispatcher. Having patrolled the city streets for years, he knew every turn, every alleyway, and every signal that could indicate trouble before emergency services arrived.
His black-and-blue patrol sedan rolled steadily over the asphalt, reflecting the streetlights in the windshield. The radio crackled with background noise. Everything seemed calm.
Driving down a quiet street, the sergeant was about to turn west when his eyes caught a strange silhouette ahead. Right in the middle of the right lane… stood a coffin. A real, heavy wooden coffin with metal handles.
The sergeant slammed on the brakes. The hazard lights flashed automatically. He removed the key from the ignition and, almost instinctively, opened the door. It creaked as he stepped onto the asphalt, his hand instinctively resting on his holster. Something about the scene felt off.

He approached the coffin slowly. Each step echoed like a dull thud. The wind shifted his shirt slightly beneath his vest.
Stopping half a meter from the object, he bent over, held his breath, and carefully lifted the lid—then froze in terror.
The coffin was empty.
And that was exactly what made it so unsettling. No body, no lining inside—just emptiness and the faint scent of fresh varnish.
He immediately radioed the dispatcher. It was soon discovered that on the other side of the city, a truck transporting a shipment of coffins for a funeral home had been in an accident.

During the crash, one of the coffins had flown out of the back, over the truck bed, and landed in the middle of the street. The driver didn’t notice and drove on—only realizing the missing coffin a few hours later during unloading.
But there was more to the story.
Reviewing nearby street camera footage, the sergeant noticed that at the moment the coffin landed in the road, there wasn’t a single pedestrian or vehicle within a 300-meter radius. It was as if the street had momentarily emptied out.
