In Canada, a 74-year-old patient had a tooth implanted into her eye to restore her vision, according to a television report.
The unique procedure allows doctors to return sight to people with severe eye conditions. While this surgery has been performed in some countries before, this was the first case in Canada.
During the operation, doctors attached a tooth to the front part of the eyeball. According to the surgeons, the tooth functions as an implant.

“The body doesn’t react well when synthetic material is placed on the front of the eye. It’s like trying to plant a flower in the desert, whereas using a tooth is like planting a cactus,” explained surgeon Greg Moloney, who performed the operation.
The doctor noted that the surgery was successful and that the patient is now gradually recovering.

Earlier in China, doctors discovered five contact lenses lodged in a patient’s eye. According to media reports, the woman had sought medical help for facial fat atrophy on one side of her face, which caused asymmetry.
During surgery, doctors found five contact lenses stuck behind her eyeball. It turned out that the woman had been wearing lenses for several years and had recently noticed a few had gone missing. She thought they had simply fallen out, not remained inside her eye.
