Renowned British actor Terence Stamp, famous for his roles in Star Wars, Superman, and many other films, has passed away at the age of 87. The sad news was announced by the star’s family.

It has been reported that Terence Stamp died on Sunday morning. In a statement, his family said: “He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy, both as an actor and a writer, that will continue to move and inspire people for many years to come.” The family requested privacy during their time of mourning and did not disclose the cause of death.

Terence Stamp was born on July 22, 1938, to the family of a tugboat stoker. His childhood coincided with the years of World War II — he survived the bombing of London. After finishing school, he initially worked in advertising before earning a scholarship that opened the doors to drama school.
Stamp’s career quickly took off: in 1962, he won a Golden Globe as the Most Promising Newcomer for his role in Billy Budd, and in 1965 he received the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for his performance in The Collector. He is remembered for his roles in The Collector, Superman, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Always Say Yes, The Haunted Mansion, and many others.
