In June 2021, Jennifer Dowker, a boat captain and scuba instructor from Cheboygan, Michigan, was performing routine maintenance on her vessel when something unusual caught her attention. On the riverbed of the Cheboygan River, she spotted a small green bottle. Curious, she picked it up, never expecting to find a message inside that had been hidden for nearly a century.

The note, dated November 1926, read: “Will the person who finds this bottle please return this paper to George Morrow, Cheboygan, Michigan, and let me know where it was discovered?”
Jennifer shared her remarkable find online, and the story quickly went viral.

Just a few days later, Michele Primeau saw the post and immediately recognized the handwriting—it belonged to her father. She realized he had likely written it on his 18th birthday. When the two women finally connected, Michele generously allowed Jennifer to keep both the bottle and the note, believing it was fitting that the discovery continue to inspire others.
