Meticulously Courting Wealthy Men… Then Sending Them to Their Graves 😱💔: In Iran, 58-Year-Old Kulsom Akbari Faces Trial for 11 Murders and an Attempted Killing
Investigators believe that over two decades, Akbari systematically killed her husbands to inherit their assets—and there may be even more victims. Here’s how the “Black Widow” operated:

A Suspicious Death
Azizzola Babaei passed away in autumn 2023. His family grew suspicious after he complained about his new wife’s strange behavior. Another case emerged when an elderly man nearly died shortly after marrying Akbari; he recovered and divorced, and Akbari soon married Babaei. It turned out that many of her ex-husbands, mostly older men, had died under mysterious circumstances.
The Deadly Method
Initially, Akbari allegedly killed her first husband by giving him alcohol and suffocating him. She later developed a more sinister method: pretending to be the devoted, caring wife while secretly administering small doses of strong medications in their food. Husbands either died or were hospitalized from heart failure or hypertension. If they survived, she increased the dosage, eventually causing their deaths. Autopsies were rarely conducted, with deaths often attributed to age or chronic illness. Akbari then inherited their wealth, changed her residence, and started searching for the next victim.

Caught and Confessed
Under mounting evidence, Akbari admitted to 11 murders and one attempted killing. She claimed temporary insanity, but psychiatric evaluation found her sane and fully aware of her actions. Victims’ families demanded the harshest punishment—death penalty. Around 50 victims’ relatives were involved in the trial, many of whom depended on the deceased’s inheritance.
Ongoing Investigation
The trial is nearing its conclusion, with Akbari facing the death sentence. Authorities believe there could be many more victims, and accomplices may still be identified.
