Oops! Katy Perry Gets Slapped with a Pricey Penalty for Filming Where She Shouldn’t (video)

It seems retrograde Mercury has taken a liking to 40-year-old Katy Perry. After her split from Orlando Bloom, Perry found herself at the center of a loud scandal — and all because of art.

In 2024, the singer filmed the music video for her track “Lifetimes” on a dune on the Spanish island of Espalmador. The problem? Oops — it’s a protected nature reserve where access is prohibited to safeguard wildlife. Perry’s production company, however, did not obtain the required permit.

As a result, the Balearic Islands government fined the star’s team €6,001. Capitol Records insists that “the local video production company assured them all necessary permits had been secured.” In reality, one of the permits was still under review, but the filming crew had received a verbal go-ahead to proceed.

Interestingly, the “Lifetimes” music video was inspired by Katy’s daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom. The video has already racked up 14 million views on YouTube.
