This morning, I had a real scare in my kitchen. My air fryer suddenly caught fire — and the strangest part was, I wasn’t even cooking anything at the time. It was just switched on 😲 Thankfully, I was nearby and managed to put out the flames in time 😢
The cause turned out to be surprisingly simple 😨 I’ll share it so you can be careful too and avoid a similar disaster .
Earlier today, I came dangerously close to a real accident in my kitchen. I had planned to make breakfast in my air fryer, just like I’d done dozens of times before. But then I noticed a strange smell… and moments later, flames inside the appliance.

Luckily, I was right there to switch it off and put out the fire immediately. Even so, I still shudder at the thought of what could have happened if I had stepped away for even a couple of minutes.
The reason was embarrassingly simple — dirt. Built-up grease and crumbs I had been meaning to clean but kept putting off turned into the source of the fire.
Now I want to share a few important safety rules I’ll never ignore again — and I hope you won’t either:
🔹 Always supervise when in use.
Even if your fryer has an auto shut-off feature, never leave it completely unattended. Accidents happen fast, and you can only react quickly if you’re nearby.

🔹 Avoid using parchment paper.
It can block airflow, overheat, and even catch fire. Stick to accessories made specifically for air fryers.
🔹 Clean after every use.
This is not just about hygiene — grease and leftover food are real fire hazards. This was my mistake. Don’t postpone cleaning.
🔹 Let it cool before storing.
Never place a hot fryer in a cupboard or enclosed space. Wait until it’s completely cool.
