18 Years Together: Incredible Twin Sisters Who Share Thoughts, Senses, and Laughter

These conjoined twin sisters recently turned 18 😲 Born joined at the head with a partially shared brain 😱, they can feel, hear, see, and even think for each other 😲. If one is tickled, the other laughs. If one drinks juice, the other tastes it 🤔.

When Tatiana and Krista Hogan were born in Vancouver, Canada, in 2006, doctors weren’t sure they would survive even a few days.

They came into the world with an extremely rare condition — joined at the head with a partially fused brain, a medical phenomenon called craniopagus, which occurs in less than 1 in 2.5 million births.

Their case was even more unique: they share a thalamus — the deep part of the brain responsible for processing sensory information.

Today, Tatiana and Krista are 18 years old, living in a small home in Vernon, British Columbia, with their mother, grandmother, and several siblings.
It’s an ordinary, loving family — just with extraordinary circumstances.

The Hogan sisters are more than twins — they are two individuals with an incredible neural connection. Because of their shared thalamus, they can feel, hear, see, and even think for each other.
If one feels ticklish, the other laughs. If one drinks juice, the other can taste it. Amazingly, they can even “read each other’s thoughts,” as if one mind inhabits two bodies.

Scientists remain fascinated by this phenomenon. Studying their brains has offered new insights into how human consciousness works.

Life with challenges
Despite their extraordinary abilities, Tatiana and Krista face serious health issues:

  • Both have weak hearts, especially Tatiana, whose condition poses a constant risk.

  • Krista has experienced seizures and epilepsy, so the family must monitor her closely.

  • They have difficulty moving and use a specially designed wheelchair since coordinating movement between two bodies requires great effort.

  • They also face developmental delays and study in a special education program.

Yet, the sisters are cheerful, talkative, and full of life. They love cartoons, video games, music, and spending time with others. They have distinct personalities and preferences — Tatiana is more impulsive, while Krista is calmer.

They enjoy being together, and although the idea of separation was once considered, doctors quickly ruled it out — the surgery would be fatal for both.
