Classic film lovers were thrilled to spot Didi Conn, best known as Frenchy from the 1978 musical Grease, out and about in New York. Now 74, Conn was seen wearing a pink polo shirt—a sweet and subtle tribute to her role as one of the iconic Pink Ladies of Rydell High. Her look instantly sparked waves of nostalgia, with fans celebrating the timeless charm of the beloved actress.
Although Frenchy remains her signature role, Conn’s career has gone well beyond Grease. She portrayed Denise in the popular sitcom Benson (1981–1984) and shared the screen with Ringo Starr in the children’s favorite Shining Time Station. Her recent public appearance served as a touching reminder of her long-standing presence in film and TV, and the lasting impact she’s had on generations of fans.

In a 2018 interview , Conn offered a behind-the-scenes peek into the filming of Grease during the summer of 1977. She confirmed the widely speculated rumor that John Travolta had a real-life crush on co-star Olivia Newton-John, which, she said, added to their effortless chemistry. Conn even teased fans with details of a newer version of the film that includes a “juicy” extra kiss between Danny and Sandy.

She also reminisced about the cast’s deep dedication to their roles—many played high schoolers despite being much older. Even off-camera, the actors stayed in character, especially during the unforgettable wrap party. Conn laughed as she recalled the night, including “special brownies” courtesy of Stockard Channing, and admitted that most of the evening was a happy blur of dancing and laughter—a reflection of the incredible bond the cast shared.
But the fun didn’t stop there. Conn revealed that the cast’s wild, carefree energy continued long after filming ended. She playfully hinted at some mischief in the trailers on set, though stopped short of revealing too much. Her candid, lighthearted stories offer fans a vivid glimpse into the joyful spirit that made Grease a cultural phenomenon—one whose magic clearly extended far beyond the silver screen.
