TV viewers were left stunned when 60-year-old media mogul and X-Factor judge Simon Cowell was seen in tears during a live broadcast. The emotional moment came after a moving charity single was performed to support two causes close to his heart.
The song was dedicated to raising funds for Together for Short Lives and Shooting Star, both of which offer essential support and hospice care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Host Dermot O’Leary, sensing the emotional atmosphere, gently said, “I know how much these charities mean to you, Simon. What would you like to say?” Struggling to speak, Simon whispered “Oh God,” covered his face, and broke down crying.
Co-judge Nicole Scherzinger tried to comfort him, while his fiancée Lauren Silverman quickly joined him on stage for support. Fellow judge Louis Walsh looked on silently, visibly stunned by the scene.

Dermot soon stepped in to relieve the pressure, telling Simon, “You don’t need to say anything else. Thank you.”
The audience was deeply touched, with many moved to tears alongside Simon. All proceeds from the single will go to the two charities. Shooting Star offers hospice care for seriously ill children, while Together for Short Lives provides resources for families facing the loss of a child due to terminal illness.
Simon’s visible emotion underscored his long-standing commitment to these causes. A patron of Together for Short Lives since 2009, Cowell has long been a vocal advocate for children’s welfare and animal rights.
