Is She Real? The 300-Year-Old Nun Story That’s Bewitching the Internet

TikTok Videos Claim This Woman from Thailand Lived to an Unbelievable Age — 399 Years (Some Videos Say 163)

A series of TikTok videos have gone viral, claiming that a woman from Thailand allegedly lived to the staggering age of 399 years — with some videos suggesting she was 163.

The photos and clips spreading rapidly across social media show a frail, elderly person of indeterminate gender, wrapped in an orange robe similar to that worn by Tibetan monks.

The videos were posted by multiple users, making it impossible to trace the original source — which only fueled the frenzy and helped spread the sensational claims about the so-called “399-year-old person” even faster.

If this person truly had lived nearly four centuries, scientists would be scrambling to unlock the secrets of his longevity, and historians would be desperate to record his perspective on everything from the French Revolution to the start of World War I.

However, according to recent scientific studies, the human body is believed to be capable of living to a maximum of 150 years — and even that would require exceptional genetics and near-perfect health.

So, Who Is This Person Really?

Journalists launched an investigation and discovered that the individual in question is actually Luang Pho Yai, a man, not a woman. He is indeed a Buddhist monk, and he is very elderly — but not 399, nor even 163 years old.

His real age? 109 years.

He lives in Thailand and first caught the attention of social media when he was filmed praying for the health of a little girl — his great-great-granddaughter.

Luang Pho Yai still has a long way to go if he hopes to become the oldest person in recorded history.

That record belongs to Jeanne Calment, a Frenchwoman who lived to 122 years and 164 days.

As of now, the oldest living person is Kane Tanaka of Japan, who is 119 years old, born on January 2, 1903.
