In the world of extreme bodybuilding, one name stands out—Arlindo de Souza. Across Brazil, he gained fame for his jaw-dropping biceps, measuring nearly 75 centimeters around. But behind the spectacle lies a hidden cost that few are aware of. 😵

Such dramatic muscle growth wasn’t achieved through standard workouts or clean nutrition. 😥 Instead, Arlindo took a far more dangerous path—one that had little to do with health or strength.
😱 The result? He ended up distorting his own body. And what makes it even more tragic is that Arlindo was once a healthy, fit, and handsome young man.
His fame surged, but not because of athletic talent. Arlindo began injecting a homemade mix of oil and alcohol directly into his muscles, desperate to achieve that “larger-than-life” look. No doctors. No supervision. Just an obsession with size.

Sadly, the consequences were dire. The dangers of these injections included severe infections, tissue death, and even the risk of amputation—or worse.
The reality hit home when his close friend Paulinho, who also used the same method, died after a similar injection. Only then did Arlindo realize the deadly cost.
“I’ll never do it again,” he says now. “We both used the same stuff. He died. I survived. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.”

Despite the regret, Arlindo still draws attention. According to his brother, women are mesmerized by him wherever he goes. His muscles impress—though they also evoke fear.
But is this what true strength looks like? When appearance matters more than health, it stops being sport—it becomes obsession.
Arlindo’s story is a powerful reminder of how chasing extreme ideals can ruin a person’s body and spirit. Once determined to sculpt the perfect body, today, he’s simply grateful to be alive.
