Despite their efforts to secure the property—including an additional $60,000 spent on flood defenses—the home’s riverside location near the Thames made it vulnerable to extreme weather.
Recent storms brought severe flooding, with up to four feet of water swamping the backyard. Neighbors noted the family had been absent from the property for some time—understandable, given the water damage.
Now, the Clooneys are settling into new surroundings: Domaine Le Canadel, a picturesque wine estate in the heart of Provence. The French countryside retreat offers the peace and sunshine they were missing, complete with a pool, tennis court, and expansive gardens.
Their European love story continues—especially with their beloved villa on Lake Como, Italy. While rumors have swirled about a potential sale, George has publicly affirmed the villa’s deep sentimental value, calling it a life-changing place for him and his family.
