At 7 p.m., an elderly woman approached the entrance of the city’s most luxurious restaurant. Dressed in an old gray coat with a missing button, a plain wool hat, and worn rubber boots, she looked completely out of place among the tuxedos, glittering gowns, and candlelit tables.
As she stepped inside, murmurs spread across the room. One guest scoffed. Another whispered mockingly:
— What’s that homeless woman doing here?
A waiter, forcing a polite smile, approached her and said:
— I’m sorry, but we’re fully booked tonight.
Yet, several tables sat clearly unoccupied.
Just as she was about to turn and leave, a second waiter—a young man with kind eyes—approached. He pulled out a chair and said gently:

— Please, have a seat. There’s always room for a guest.
The woman, surprised but thankful, removed her coat and sat down carefully. Then something unexpected happened.
Handing her a menu, the young waiter waited patiently. After a short pause, she said softly:
— I’d like the creamy porcini soup and duck breast with pomegranate sauce, please. And a nice glass of red wine.
The waiter looked momentarily startled.

— Ma’am, I should let you know… This restaurant is quite expensive.
She smiled faintly.
— I know. I’ve been saving for a long time. I gave everything I had to my children and grandchildren—my time, energy, and love. I supported them through everything. But now, they don’t even answer when I call. Some told me to give advance notice before visiting.
She looked away for a moment, then added:
— I was recently diagnosed with late-stage cancer. The doctors told me I may only have days or weeks left. So I decided… if this is the end, I want to feel human just once. Not like a burden. Like a guest. A woman in a movie who can afford to enjoy one elegant evening.

The young man stood silently, his eyes glistening. He nodded gently:
— In that case, let’s make this the best dinner of your life.
When he returned, her meal was served with a glass of the finest wine and a beautifully plated dessert—compliments of the chef.
She ate slowly, savoring every bite, surrounded by soft live music. At first, people watched her with confusion. But eventually… they stopped watching at all.
