Two young girls from Dallas — 9-year-old Lila Bonner and 8-year-old Eloise Peck — were tragically confirmed dead on July 6, 2025, after flash floods swept through Central Texas during the July 4th holiday. The inseparable best friends and cabinmates were staying at Camp Mystic in Kerr County when the floodwaters struck, leaving several campers unaccounted for.

As of that date, a third Dallas girl, Hadley Hanna, was still missing. Lila’s family confirmed her passing on July 5, followed by Eloise’s family a day later. In a statement, Eloise’s mother remembered her daughter as a gentle soul with a deep love for animals, cherished deeply by those who knew her.

Kaitlyn Ross, a reporter for Alive11, honored the girls in a heartfelt tribute, saying they died together and will always be remembered. The OKCM Search and Rescue team continued providing updates, noting that 11 campers and one counselor were still missing.

As the heartbreaking news spread, communities across Texas flooded social media with messages of support, remembrance, and prayer.
By July 6, the death toll from the Texas floods had surpassed 50, with rescue teams warning that the number could still rise as the search for the missing pressed on. 💔
